3137 Highway 337, Menlo, Georgia, 30731;
Each person and each family is so very important here at Menlo First Baptist as we carry out the commission of Jesus Christ to share the good news of salvation throughout the world. The purpose of our church is to worship the Almighty God, whose personal name is Yahweh, in a manner consistent with the traditional Judeao-Christian scriptures, which we recognize as God's Holy, Infallible Word. We worship in the name of Jesus Christ who is God's resurrected Son and humanity's Savior; observe the ordinances and doctrines of the church of our Lord Jesus Christ as set forth in the New Testament.
We have developed ministries of worship, education, witness, benevolence, and recreation which glorify Jesus Christ in spreading the Great Commission to a lost and dying world.
Here is a summary of our basic tenants of faith that undergird this vision of world evangelism through the ministry of our church.
We believe that there is only one God, the Creator of all things. He revealed Himself to us in the teachings of the Holy Bible. We believe that we can know Him and have a personal relationship with Him through His only Son, Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16); that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of all men, physically rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is seated on the right hand of God to make intercession for us. We believe that He is coming again to rapture His church out of this world prior to the Great Tribulation. We believe that there is no other way to God except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6) He is, and always has been, co-equal with God and the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit of God. We believe that all persons who are born again have been baptized with the Holy Ghost. He indwells all true believers (Romans 8:9). He comforts, guides and convicts all believers and He empowers us to do the work God has called each of us to do. We believe that He convicts lost people and points them to Christ. He is also eternal and co-equal with God and Jesus Christ.
We believe that God has revealed Himself to us in three equal parts; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost (1 John 5:7). All three are eternal and co-equal.
We believe we were created in the image of God and that we were created in perfection, but as a result of Adam's sin, all are born with a sin nature. We believe in the total depravity of man. We believe that we are all sinners by nature and action. We do not believe that in this life we will ever reach a state of sinless perfection, but that we are growing in a closer relationship to Him as we walk our Christian lives.
We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell. We believe that all who have been born again will spend eternity in Heaven; and all those who reject Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Hell.
We believe that salvation only comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and that a person must follow the guidelines of the Gospel (Romans 10:9-10). We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone (Eph. 2:8-9); none of our works will gain us access to God. We believe it takes the shed blood of Jesus Christ to redeem our souls from sin. We believe for a person to be truly born again, he must accept Jesus Christ as LORD of his life. Salvation is a gift and a work of God in man's life through the present person of the Holy Spirit here on earth.
We believe that a person must follow the Lord in believer's baptism; however, it is not a part of salvation, but a proof of salvation. We believe that baptism is by immersion only, and is conducted in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We believe that baptism must be post salvation. We do not accept infant or any other type of baptism. It is essential to having a right relationship with God.
We believe in fulfilling the ordinance of the Lord's Supper and that we are to do this "as often as we do" in remembrance of Christ's substitutionary death for our sins.
We believe that the Bible is the perfect Word of God. It is perfect, without error, and complete. We support the King James Version.
We believe that God created the heaven and the earth and that is was created in seven literal days.
We are pre-millennial, pre-tribulation. We believe in the Rapture of the Church before the beginning of the tribulation. We believe that Christ will literally come a second time to this earth and He will reign one thousand years on this earth in perfect peace. We believe that God will one day judge all men, saved and lost.
We are governed by the rule of the people under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Each member has equal representation and we are democratic in our business. No outside entity in any way governs our Church. We have a pastor and deacons as leaders in our church.
We believe that the offices of pastor and deacons must be filled by men that meet the qualifications given in accordance with 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2Tim. 2:15
